Pastor Scott Mickey

I was Born and raised in High Point, NC with Christian parents who faithfully attended The Salvation Army. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, NC when I was 7 years old. Felt the call to ministry during morning worship service at the age of 15. I served on a summer evangelistic team after my senior year of high school. I enrolled at High Point College to study Business Administration and Economics in preparation for ministry in The Salvation Army. Attended High Point College for 2 years and then married Melodee Bartram and after 5 years together we had our first daughter, Harmonee Scotlyn in 1991. I worked in furniture and veneer manufacturing for a few years before Melodee and I felt led by God to enter The Salvation Army College for Officer’s Training in Atlanta, GA to prepare for full-time ministry in The Salvation Army. We attended the school for 2 full years from 1993 until 1995, including Christmas time and summer time, and graduated as lieutenants in The Salvation Army. We were commissioned and appointed to serve as assistant pastors in Corpus Christi, TX. After a short time of ministry in Corpus Christi, TX we decided to move back to High Point, stepping out of ministry for a while. I worked as an assistant manager at Eckerd Drugstores for 2 years and as Financial Development Director/Christian Education Director with The Salvation Army in High Point, NC for 1 year. I then served as Youth and Children’s Pastor at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church for 4 years and while there my wife gave birth to our second daughter, Scoteigh Joselyn in 2000. During the time I was at Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church I was a part of the Kids’ Camp committee and served as District Children’s Director for the NC West District of The Wesleyan Church for 3 years. I then became Children’s Pastor at Providence Wesleyan in 2002, serving in a part-time capacity. During my last 12 ½ years at Providence, I have worked full-time as Executive Director of The Salvation Army Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Davidson County, as an operations center associate in the Dell, Inc. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC, and in my current role in the Pepsi Equipment Services call center in Winston-Salem, NC. It has been a joy to serve God in many different capacities over the years and I look forward to continuing to grow and allowing God to use me in many ways as his servant here at Providence Wesleyan Church and through the Wesleyan Kids’ Camp committee. In all of this I am able to say, “to God be the glory!”
